Can I tell you something I've been saying on repeat in my DMs, my one on one sessions, and honestly in my own head every single weeknight?
We are putting way too much pressure on dinner.
And I get it. I really do. By the time 5:30 hits, you've already given everything you have. You showed up at work. You held it together through the meetings, the emails, the whatever-your-day-looked-like. And now you're supposed to walk through the door and produce a meal that is nutritious, something everyone will actually eat, involves a vegetable nobody complains about, and somehow also gets you to your protein goals for the day.
That's a tall order for anyone. That's an impossible order for a tired working mom who may have survived the last eight hours on stress, coffee, and whatever was in the break room.
So here's what I want to flip for you this month.

This month's focus
Ditch Dinner
As your main nutrition event of the day.
Dinner does not have to carry your whole nutritional day. It never did. We just got conditioned to think it does.
Here's the thing: the meals where you have the most control, the most flexibility, and the most opportunity to actually hit your nutrition goals? Those are the meals nobody else has an opinion about. Breakfast, your mid-morning snack, lunch, something in the car on the way home. Those are your windows. Those are where the magic happens.
Dinner gets to just be dinner. Feed the family. Connect with your people. Hear about what happened at school. Let it be simple, let it be semi-homemade, let it be the rotisserie chicken you grabbed on the way home. Dinner doesn't have to be the nutrition hero of your day.
What front-loading actually looks like
| |
Breakfast: Eggs with Greek yogurt on the side. A protein smoothie with hemp seeds blended in. Something quick with at least 25-30g of protein right out of the gate.
Mid-morning: A handful of nuts and a piece of fruit, or a string cheese and some veggies. Something with fiber to keep hunger in check until lunch.
Lunch: A big bowl with chicken, white beans, feta, and whatever veggies you have. A wrap stuffed with turkey, hummus, and spinach. Something that does real nutritional work so dinner only needs to carry 25-30g.
In the car: A protein bar, a handful of edamame, a Chomps stick, an apple with almond butter. Something small that takes the edge off so you walk in the door as a human being.

This is the framework inside Ditch Dinner, my digital guide that walks you through how to pace your nutrition throughout the day so that dinner can finally breathe. Easy dinner ideas included, semi-homemade options, and a whole section on how to just pick up dinner when that is what the day calls for. No shame, all strategy.

The other piece of this puzzle
Fiber is what makes it stick
Front-loading your protein is the strategy. Fiber is what makes it actually hold.
Here's why so many of us struggle to stay consistent with any nutrition plan: we're hungry. That's it. That's the whole reason. Not lack of willpower. Not poor follow through. Hunger. When your body is running on not enough fiber, you are fighting your own biochemistry every single afternoon, every single evening, every single time you walk past the pantry.
Fiber keeps you full between meals. It keeps cravings manageable. It makes the front-loading strategy actually work because you're not white-knuckling it to dinner.
